Dr Lee Margetts is a Visiting Academic at the Centre, he is an international expert in massively parallel computations for engineering simulation. He holds various posts at the University of Manchester including: Head of Synthetic Environments in the Aerospace Research Institute; Honorary Levcturer in the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences and Research Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ancient Life.
He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and an MBA in International Engineering Business Management. He is the founder and directors of the open source software project ParaFEM, which aims to provide general purpose finite element modelling capability for Exascale platforms by 2020.
Lee is actively engaged in promoting the uptake of HPC for engineering computation in industry. He holds elected posts as Chairman of the NAFEMS HPC Technical Working Group and member of the PRACE Industrial Advisory Committee.
