Grade 7 : £30,434 - £37,394 with a discretionary range to £40,847 pa

The Centre is seeking 3 Research Software Engineers to work within the LIfe, Natural and Biomedical Sciences team led by Dr Sansone.  The successful candidates will work closely with other team members and external collaborators, leading and contributing towards the enhancement of infrastructure for the collection, curation, storage, representation and publication of data and its provenance.

In this varied, interesting and challenging role the successful candidates will provide technical knowledge, software engineering and leadership ability for (i) a growing portfolio of data and knowledge management projects funded by UK, EU, NIH and pharma-funded projects and (ii) activities for the ELIXIR UK nod of the ELIXIR programme, aand the NIH Big Data to Kknowledge Initiative.

The postion requires software engineers with both technical and social ability, and also experience and skills to manage more than one project, plan and monitor project deadlines, communicate and work with geographically distributed end users and other developers at collaborators' sites, and assist in writing reports.  As well as technical and design ability, it is essential the individual is able to effectively communicate ideas and concepts between different groups.  The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well with colleagues and to collaborate with external partners, including other developers. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills  and enjoy working in a stimulating and international culture.  A list of the teams current projects can be found here.
